Sleep . The number is taken from the album Starting Over (MCA MCD11264) produced by Tony Brown.
Roger's close
neighbour, CLIC founder Bob Woodward
tells Roger that he is friendly with Bristol businessman Charlie Dobson who, over the years, has been a good patron to
CLIC. 51 year old Dobson had been on the Bristol group scene in the 60's
and told Bob that he has always been a great admirer of Roger's and expressed an interest in meeting him again(see entry Saturday August 24 1968). Dobson advises Bob that he is entertaining some American friends and business associates at Thornbury Castle, a hotel on the outskirts of Bristol. He suggests to Bob that Roger join him and his colleagues at the Castle and Dobson asked " by the way, could Roger bring his ukulele along and sing a few songs to the
guests?" Not wanting to upset his
neighbour, although feeling put upon by this request, Roger agrees to go. During this visit Roger mentions the Zelda show to Dobson. Dobson expresses an interest and asks Roger to send him a demo tape
Roger makes a trip to the Greece song festival. His entry, a new song penned with Les Reed, Only Love Can Break My Heart, comes in 3rd place.
