The BBC decides not to air the number. stating it not to be their kind of music. The song subsequently reaches No.1 in the USA Country Charts and No.24 in the mainstream charts and Don Williams declares "I couldn't believe that someone from England had written a song that said so much of what I feel about so many different things. I really felt the minute I heard it that it was a major piece of work, and when we recorded it, I was scared to death that if we didn't release it first, someone would cover it and mess it up as far as it being a single by me."
